POOL FILTERS

Your swimming pool filter is a vital piece of pool equipment that helps keep your pool water clean and clear by removing visible and invisible particles, to help maintain sanitary water conditions. So important is the pool filter, you will want to make sure you have the right one for your application, and are not tempted to save a few bucks by buying an undersized pool filter. In-ground pool filters are larger to allow a higher flow rate with Design Flow Rates of over 150 GPM on larger filter sizes. In-ground pool filters are also designed to handle larger pool volumes as well, processing up to 10,000 gallons of pool water per hour on larger models. Choose an in-ground filter size that can filter all of the water in the pool in 6 to 8-hours. For less maintenance and longer filter cycles, select a large model size.

Above ground pool filters are simply smaller versions of in-ground pool filters, and they operate in exactly the same fashion. Above ground pools can range in size from under 3000 gallons, to over 20000 gallons, so there are a wide variety of sizes to match any size above ground pool. Filter systems for above ground pools include the pool filter and the pool pump with a filter system base, or you can buy the pump or filter separately.

Multiport valves are a filter backwash valve to easily reverse the flow of water through sand and DE filters, and discharge dirty backwash water out of the waste port. In The Swim carries a wide selection of replacement multiport valves. Top mounted sand filters include the valve, but side mounted sand and DE filter multiport valves are sold separately. Slide valves are an optional valve for side mount sand and DE filter valves.

Pool filter cartridges are pleated cartridges used in cartridge pool filters. They can last just one season on very small filters, and up to five years for large in-ground cartridge filters. However, eventually every pool filter cartridge will lose the ability to trap small particles, leading to dull and dirty water, or bouts with algae.
