Pro Tips: For above ground pool winter covers, make sure the cable and winch assembly is secured but do not overtighen. For inground pool winter covers, fill the water tubes around 1/2 to 3/4 full as the water needs room to expand when frozen.

Important Pool Cover Supplies

Take stock now of supplies to secure the cover to the pool, and a cover pump to remove rain water and melted snow. A leaf rake makes an excellent leaf dredging tool, if you don't use a leaf cover. There are other important pool cover accessories, depending on pool type.

For inground pool covers, In The Swim has all of the parts, tools and accessories used with pool safety covers, and for water bag style solid pool covers, there are also a number of products used to secure the cover, as well as maintain it throughout the winter.

For above ground pool covers, a cable and winch system is included, but often other items are needed to block high winds from getting under the cover. Other devices are used to winterize skimmers or deal with heavy leaves, and Air Pillows protect your pool and liner from ice damage.
